02:30 PM - 05:30 PM Blue & Gold Ceremony
In 1933 Cub Leaders' Round Table suggested Parent and Cub dinners. Soon thereafter, Pack 1 of Michigan City started a tradition of pot-lucks where the dads were to bring utensils made of wood; whittled by the Cub with his dad. In the 1930s father and son bean dinners and Cub family dinners began to become commonplace. Finally, in 1943 the name Blue and Gold Banquet first appeared in BSA literature, and became synonymous with celebrating the birthday of Scouting.

Some more B&G tidbits... The Blue and Gold Banquet, the birthday dinner for the Cub Scout Program, is usually held during February, the anniversary month for the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts of America was organized in February 1910, and the Cub Scout program was organized 20 years later, in 1930. February is also the birth month of Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting.

LEADERS AND CUBS CLASS A UNIFORMS

The Pack’s big celebration gets its name from the Cub Scout colors. Blue and Gold banquets are held by Packs all across the country to celebrate the birthday of Cub Scouting. Blue stands for truth and spirituality; the Gold stands for good cheer and happiness. The Pack also recognizes Scouts who have earned their Arrow of Light Award, those bridging to Boy Scouts, and other Rank Advancements.
