Saddleback Day Camp, June 28 - July 2, 2010!!

Cub Scout Day Camp is THE BEST WAY TO RING IN SUMMER VACATION!!!

Cub Scout Day Camp is held at O'Neill Regional Park at Live Oak Road and Trabuco Canyon Road. It is an incredible five-day experience that offers opportunities for all levels of Cub Scouting, from Tiger to Webelos II, to participate in activities that are designed to build mental fitness, physical skills, and character. Each day at camp has a variety of age-appropriate games and sports, crafts, and other activities that will assist your Cub as they experience “Cub Scout Safari”. Belt loops, activity pins, and other advancements are earned at camp.

For more detailed date information, talk to your den leader and please see the following link : http://www.saddlebackdaycamp.org/2010/index.htm

Our Pack Meeting on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 is the last date to sign up and submit all paperwork and fees for Saddleback Day Camp. NO EXCEPTIONS!

If you have not received your Day Camp Registration forms or need a dinner meal form, or if you have any other questions, please contact your Den Leader.

Here are the instructions:

1. Parents, please turn in your forms/fees to your Den Leader prior to the Tuesday, April 27th Pack meeting, especially if you will not be attending the Pack meeting.

2. Camp dates are June 28th - July 2nd, 2010 at O'Neill Regional Park in Trabuco Canyon. http://www.ocparks.com/oneillpark/

3. Pack 717 attends the afternoon session, from 2:30 pm - 8:00 pm

4. There is a separate registration form for Tigers, Wolves and Bears, Webelos, Siblings, Youth Volunteers and Adult Volunteers. (Your scout will graduate to the next rank before day camp starts so if he is a Tiger now, he will attend camp as a Wolf.) A completed Adult Registration form must accompany each completed scout application.

5. Camp registration forms can be found at http://saddlebackdaycamp.org/2010/registration/index.htm

6. The paperwork needs to be filled out completely. Please double check your forms for accuracy and completeness. Please turn in all forms together (scout camper, youth volunteer, parent volunteer, sibling - camp registration, and meal form)

7. Note on your camp form in the “Camp Fees and Discounts" section that the camp fee of $125 should be reduced by $5 (Our Pack is a Founders Unit) and $10 (Registration in by Scout-O-Rama) making camp only $110 for the week. If you decide to purchase extra t-shirts for your Cub for $10 each, note the quantity and size. Each Cub Scout will receive a free t-shirt by registering for day camp.

8. There is a parking fee of $3 per day or $15 for the week. Parking passes should be pre-purchased at the mandatory Adult Volunteer Orientation on June 9th or June 12th. Advance parking pass purchase on June 9th & June 12th is highly recommended. Otherwise you must wait in line and pay at the gate each day.

9. Parents can drop off and pick up scouts without charge, there will be Boy Scouts to assist your scout at drop off and pick up. Do not attempt to park without paying, you will be cited by the O.C. Sheriff’s Department.

10. Meal forms (dinner meals are approx. $6.00/day per person) will be emailed to you very soon. Don't fail to sign up for the Pack meals as they are one of the highlights of the camp. It is really fun to watch 50 hungry scouts dig into dinner. For the adults it is a moment to relax and share time with friends. The alternative is to drag dinner around all afternoon in the hot sun and watch everyone else enjoy a catered meal.

11. The Pack 717 meal form and Saddleback Day Camp registration form should be turned in at the same time and with one check covering all fees, made payable to Pack 717.

12. Siblings (ages 3-10) and potty trained are only allowed to attend camp when their parents are there. Siblings stay in a well supervised sibling camp except they must be rescued by their parent for dinner. Please complete the Sibling Registration form as well and include them on your meal form.

13. In our Pack, Parents are required to sign up for a minimum of 2 volunteer days. This enables us to maintain our required 1:4 Adult to Camper ratio every day so our Cubs may attend camp. If you sign up for 3 or more days, you get the free camp t-shirt, $10 Scout Shop Certificate and bragging rights. Only registered adult volunteers are allowed at Saddleback Day Camp. Meaning, if you plan to attend camp for any length of time, you MUST complete an Adult Registration form.

14. Youth volunteers will receive their own meals provided by the camp. There is a total $10 charge for each youth by Saddleback Day Camp to provide meals for the week. Please include this in your total camp fee. If they would prefer to eat with us, they can grab a plate of food at the youth area if they pre-purchased those meals and bring it to our Pack site, or they must purchase a Pack meal and you must include them on your meal form. Please complete the Youth Volunteer Registration form as well. Youth volunteers must be entering at least 6th grade or be at least 11 years of age.

15. Youth and Adult volunteers must attend a mandatory one hour training session. Even if you have attended training the prior year, you must still attend a training session this year. Adult volunteers must attend training either Wednesday, June 9th, 6:30-7:30pm or Saturday, June 12th, 9-10 am. Youth volunteers must be entering at least 6th grade or be at least 11 years of age. Youth volunteers must attend a mandatory 1 hour training either Tuesday, June 15th, 7:30-8:30pm or Saturday, June 19th,10-11 am. Location to be determined. Youth volunteers who do not attend training will not be allowed to volunteer at camp, no exceptions.

16. Den Leaders, please bring all your completed den member forms/fees in one package to the Pack meeting, on April 27th, with checks made payable to PACK 717. Please double check your den’s forms for accuracy and completeness and fees prior to submitting. If you would like to turn in your den’s forms earlier, please contact Shelley Isaacson to make arrangements.

Day Camp is one of the highlights of the Scouting year. Don't miss it!
