ATTENTION ALL PACK 717 CUB SCOUTS...IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING CHANGE TO DECEMBER 15, 2009 PACK MEETING...
IN THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON OF GIVING, WE HAVE DECIDED TO FOCUS OUR HOLIDAY GATHERING ON HELPING THOSE WHO ARE IN NEED BY SUPPORTING THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS RESERVE AND THEIR "TOYS FOR TOTS" CAMPAIGN.
WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO EXPRESS OUR SINCERE THANKS AND APPRECIATION TO THOSE IN THE MILITARY WHO BRAVELY SERVE AND PROTECT OUR COUNTRY AND OUR FREEDOM.
PLEASE JOIN US ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2009 AT 6:30PM AT THE WAGON WHEEL ELEMENTARY MPR ROOM
(We will not be meeting at the RSM Lake Amphitheater as previously announced at the Pack Meeting and on the Pack Website.)
We are asking each Den to donate sporting goods equipment as follows:
Tiger : Den 3, Den 9 - Basketball
Wolf : Den 7, Den 8 - Baseball
Bear : Den 1, Den 11 - Football
Webelos I & II : Den 2, Den 4, Den 10 - Soccer
Your Den Leader will be contacting you to coordinate your donations. Your den will present your donations to the Marines who will be at our meeting to collect them.
We are also asking each Den to provide 3 dozen cookies to share, with NO nuts due to Scout allergies. Cocoa and coffee will be provided by the Pack.
During the meeting, our cub scouts will be making Holiday and/or Thank You cards for our troops overseas or wounded and stationed at Camp Pendleton. We will provide the art supplies, but would like to ask
each cub scout to bring a picture of himself in his uniform to stick in their card to add that special personal touch that our troops really appreciate. Our brave and kind Marines have agreed to deliver the cards for us. They have already expressed their appreciation and are truly looking forward to spending time with our cub scouts.
I apologize for the last minute change in venue and realize this will mean more time and effort on your part during what can already be viewed as a stressful time of the year. I hope that all of you will come and show your support for our Troops and help our U.S. Marine Corps Reserve with their "Toys for Tots" campaign. Their goal is "to deliver a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens." It is a goal that ties in well with Cub Scouting's 12 Core Values of Citizenship, Compassion, Cooperation, Courage, Faith, Health and Fitness, Honesty, Perserverance, Positive Attitude, Resourcefulness, Respect, and Responsibility.
