Pinewood Derby "Rough Cut" sessions, December 5th or 12th!
Pinewood Derby Kits will be provided by the Pack and handed out to Cubs at the November Pack Meeting by their Den Leaders.
One of the most time consuming tasks in building a Pinewood Derby Car is cutting the initial shape. We speed up this process with a "rough cut". Using a band saw, sander and drill press, we can cut just about anything your Cub can draw.
"Rough-Cut" definition : There will be two wood shop sessions this year for Cubs and dads/moms who are wood working challenged. During these sessions, the basic block is cut on a band saw to match a drawing provided by the Cub and sanded to the basic shape. Other work such as boring holes for weights, cutting new axle groves, and turning axles will be accomplished time and equipment permitting. Rough-cut is intended to speed the process of building the car by accomplishing the more hazardous steps in the process. There will be hours of additional work needed to create a special Pinewood Derby Car.
The FANTASTIC Esquenazi and Knight families have opened up their garage and tools to help the Pack 717 Cub Scouts begin cutting their blocks of wood into creative Pinewood Derby race cars.
The first rough cut is scheduled at Marcel Esquenazi's, on Saturday, December 5th, 9:45am - 4:00pm, at 9 Longhorn Street, TC, (949) 888-0898.
The second and final rough cut opportunity is scheduled at Marc Knight's, on Saturday, December 12th, 7:30am - 11:30am, at 43 Clementine Street, TC, (949) 888-0901.

The Pinewood Derby Race, scheduled for Saturday, January 23, 2010, from 9am - 2pm, at the Wagon Wheel multipurpose room, is an event you, your son and family will never forget. The entire process, from building to racing a car, will teach your son many of the core values we try to instill in Scouts.
