When it comes to freshwater fishing, Irvine Lake in southeast Orange County is one of the better fishing spots in all of Southern California. Usually thought of as a "pay to play" trout lake, the emphasis is on plenty of fish to catch, rather than just a few giant-size trout. The majority of trout in the kids’ lagoon will be from 1.5 – 4 pounds. The kids' lagoon is full of water and is stocked with fish every Thursday!! Bring your own fishing poles, bait can be purchased at the Irvine Lake Tackle Shop.
Also, the lake Pro Shop will conduct a fishing clinic for our group at 9 am Saturday. A Fishing License is not required.
Cost : Entrance/Fishing fees : Advance Sign Up and Payment is Required
Please indicate and pay accordingly when you complete the registration form below. Irvine Lake charges the following fees:
1. Day Use Only + Fishing = $17/adult; $9/child (4-12 yo)
2. Day Use Only w/o Fishing = $8/person/day
3. Tent Camping + Fishing = $21/adult; $13/child (4-12 yo)
4. Tent Camping w/o Fishing = $8/person/day
5. RV Camping = $35 for 1 RV (4 people), plus fishing fee ($17/adult or $9/child) OR just the entrance fee ($8/person/day), if you don't fish
Note: Children 3 and under are FREE to enter, camp and fish.
Meals:
Pack 717 will provide food and drinks for the cubs and their immediate families. This includes lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. NO BREAKFAST WILL BE PROVIDED ON SATURDAY; however, Irvine Lake Cafe has a great breakfast menu. The traditional dinner entree for Fishing Camp is Fish Tacos, so we need lots of fish! GO CATCH THEM, PACK!
Note: Your meals will only be guaranteed with your registration, so please don't forget to fill one out below.
Arrival and Departure Times:
You may arrive anytime on Saturday after 7 a.m. At the gate, tell the attendant you're with Pack 717, and you're there for a special event. The attendant will direct you to the Bait and Tackle Shop to check in and get your sticker badge for fishing and wristband for camping. After you check in, head out to the kids' lagoon on the side closer to the Bait and Tackle Shop and set up tent or begin fishing! Departure Time is Sunday at NOON.
Campground Info:
Our campsite will be by the kids' lagoon where they will be fishing. This campground has hot showers and flush toilets. Yay! Can you tell I'm a mom? Besides fishing, families can also rent pontoon boat (up to 10 people at $50/day), motor boat (up to 4 people @ $150/day) and paddle boat (up to 2 people @ $10/hour). There's also a Bait and Tackle shop nearby, where you can purchase fishing poles at $10/pole and baits. You can definitely bring your own fishing gear. Hint: According to the Special Event Coordinator, garlic baits are very popular at the lake. Fish like them!
