Pinewood Derby, January 23, 2010, 9am - 2pm, RACE DAY!!
All Scouts must be in Class A uniform during the Pinewood Derby to participate!
Welcome Race Fans!
The annual Pack 717 Pinewood Derby Race will be held at the
Wagon Wheel Elementary Multipurpose Room on January 23, 2010 from 9am - 2pm. We had a fabulous race last year, and we are looking forward to an equally exciting turnout this year.
The race will be by lane rotation to determine the winners in the individual Dens and overall event. The event will start with the Webelos, and proceed through the Bear, Wolf and Tiger dens, followed by the Open Class. Finally, the three fastest cars from each den will participate in the overall race finals.
All Scouts must be in Class A uniform during the Pinewood Derby to participate. Please try to arrive early to support your fellow Scouts.

NOTE : These are approximate times, so folks should err on the side of arriving at least 30 minutes early. Alternatively, things could get backed up, so everyone should have patience and FUN and go visit the Pack Concession Stand, for breakfast AND lunch, YUM.
Awards
Awards will be presented at the Derby. Awards will be presented in the following categories:
• 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th place - Overall Pack
• 1st, 2nd, 3rd place - Individual Dens
• 1st, 2nd, 3rd, place - Open Event
• Best Paint Job
• Best Detail Work
• Best Workmanship
• Fastest Looking
• Most Humorous
• Most Realistic Looking
• Most Colorful
• Most Original Design
• Best Use of Imagination
• Other awards as appropriate
• All participants will receive a PWD patch at the Pack Meeting
Judging
Den leaders and committee members will perform static judging.
Event Officials
Race officials will operate the race track, place cars in the starting position, ensure cars meet all requirements, and be the final authority on all matters.
Helpful Hints
Please remember to bring cameras and cheers, and plan on eating breakfast and lunch at the event. A variety of food and snacks will be provided throughout the day. The Pack and Den 1 will provide the yummy concession stand that you don't want to miss. Prices are very modest and the sales help pay for the event.
Den Leaders, ATTENTION PLEASE!!
1) The Den leader (or designated representative) needs to be at the PWD for their Den's race.
2) After their Den races, they need to go to the Stager and get their awards package. In it they will find pre-printed awards for each boy and 1st, 2nd, 3rd place ribbons.
3) The Den leader should take their entire Den outside the MPR and hand out the certificates and ribbons. Blue is for the first place finisher in their den, Red the second, and White the third.
4) Den Leaders should let the boys know that the top three finishers' cars will be automatically entered in the Pack finals and those boys should come back to see their car run in the finals.
